We all have restaurants which remind us of the TV programme “ Cheers”. The place where everybody knows your name! What a warm feeling! The Café de France is one of those for us.
We have been going there for nearly 10 years now and as we enter we are always welcomed by the family that owns it.This is a real family restaurant with dad welcoming and watching over all, mum doing the bills, and the son overlooking the serving staff. It is situated in Grimaud village, one of the prettiest villages in France, and is at its very centre with outdoor seating when the weather is fine and protection when it isn’t.The menu is wide and varied but their Moule farcis is excellent as is their lamb. They have one special sea food dish, Cassolette du Pecheur en Croute, which comes in a large bowl and is covered with a topping of puff pastry and looks like the pie the blackbirds might have come in (4 and 20 blackbirds baked in a pie). The portion is enormous and when you break open the pastry the fish soup steams out through the pastry. Inside the soup is a large amount of fish and seafood and it is almost impossible to eat it all.
If you want a restaurant with ambiance then this is it.
