We all have special places that we know not many people know and the Anerie is one of those. It is situated on a road at the far end of Pampalone and one would pass it without noticing. It is surrounded by a forest of canes and is only open for a few months a year as it is nearly all open air.To call it Bohemian would be a good description as it has a soil floor and consists of a bar that would not be out of place on a desert island and a few bad weather areas that look like they were made out of old greenhouses. There is a small kitchen behind the bar were the multiple starters and desserts are made but all the cooking is done on an outside BBQ were they have to spray water on the surrounding foliage before they can light it.The ambiance is great as is the fixed menu which has been the same for many years. For the main course one has a choice of T-Bone or fish and they are both cooked on the BBQ. The steak must be about 3 inches thick and the fish are enormous! The steak always comes rare and you have to send it back to the grill if you prefer it any other way.The staff are French and Brazilian and the service is very friendly. The night we were there the father of the daughter, who now runs it, was there and I remembered that he always did the BBQing with no shoes on, but things have changed and it is now done by a Brazilian cook in a smart white cooks outfit. Certainly to be recommended at a fixed price of €55.
