Playing golf in the heat by Mark

Playing golf in the heat of the summer in an exceptionally hot climate can be physically and mentally exhausting. Below I outlined some basic rules that you should follow if you want to get the best out of your game this summer.

What to wear:
Light colored, loose fitting light weight cotton shirts. Shorts or loose fitting trousers. A large brimmed hat or a well ventilated cap. A wet towel around your neck between shots plus a dry one for when your hands sweat. Take your glove off after every shot; this will keep it dry from sweat. Sun block if you have fair skin or sun cream to avoid a sleepless night.
Before you play:
Eat a well balanced meal about an hour before your tee off time. Keep your warm up on the driving range short.
When you are playing:
Drink lots of water you should consume at least 1 and 1/2 liters per 18 holes. Eat energy bars and if you suddenly feel weak eat a chocolate bar or some fruit for quick boost of energy. If you are walking the course stay in the shade, even use an umbrella for protection from that scorching sun.
After the round:
Keep drinking water well after you have finished. Go for a nice cool swim at the pool. Or if you are lucky enough to be 1.6 kilometers from the beaches like us lucky ones here in Sainte Maxime go for a dip in the sea!!!
